It is famous for its gigantic fireworks. 100 syakutama (尺玉; 1syaku=33cm) size fireowrks has been fired. It is the 49th one (第49回いたばし花火大会)that had been held in Itabashi District. I went to the festival site and sat on the river bank. It was a totally different experience than the previous ones I had been this year.
Unable to get the best spot again, due to the basyotori (staking the spot), I found a place very close to the restricted zone. It was the closest place to where the fireworks were fired. Being the closest, the sound was also the loudest. I could feel my stomach vibrate in harmony with the huge explosions, almost right over our head. The explosive blossoms filled the sky above us. It was really overhelming.
