Iregardless of the heavy raining and strong wind, it is a perfect fine day today. So I decided to walk around and take some pictures.
Having to wait for the post man, I could not leave home early enough. After getting the registered mail at around 10:30am, I started toward train station. At first, I wanted to go to some hiking courses in mountain areas. But since it now gets dark after four o'clock in the afternoon, I decided to go to down town instead.
Starting from Shinjuku station, and after going to the Tokyo Metropolitan City Hall and taking one more round of pictures from the 49th floor, I was ready for walking in the city. By the way, since it is autum now, I could have a very good view of Mountain Fuji! I wondered how far I could make along Yamanote line, in clockwise direction.
The start was quite easy, as I am quite familiar with the neighbors of Shinjuku now. But as I am in the direction to Shinokubo, I started to get confused as always. The reason is simple: Tokyo's road is said to be purposedly designed as a big maze. There are very few roads that run in west-east or sounth-north direction. After walking for some blocks, I always totally lost any senses of directions. So, the result, I reached Okubo of Sobusen instead of Its brother station of Shinokubo on Yamanote line.
Having failed to follow the direction of clockwise along Yamanote, I decided to just walk at my will while trying to keep close distance form Yamanote. Still I ended up at Shimoitabashi of Tojosen. It is to the north of Ikebukuro, from where Yamanote actually turns east to Otsuka station. Tired and a bit frustrated, I had a quick dinner at a small Chinese restaraunt. Then from Shimoitabashi, I walked across Meijidori and along the track of Yamanote, finally to Otuska.
On the way, right behind the Higashifuji Inarijinja (東山藤稲荷神社)), there were two nice parks, deep under the tall and dense trees. All the noises of neary by roads and buildings are all cut off, even most of the light is shadowed. The mosqitos were nuisance, but the tranquil environment really calm people down. Even the stray cat (the picture above) looks very relaxing and at home.
