Free photograph retouch softwares, like Photoshop Express!

Picasa is a nice freebie for users who only require simple retouching operations. Since Picasa is under Google now, it is best connected to picasaweb. When I have not taken in RAW mode, I feel happy enough retouch with it for most of my works.
Windows Live Photo Gallery is nicer software than I imagined. It is faster than Picasa, and has similar retouching functions too. Actually, the total number of functions is less. I like the history adjustment and panorama composition (no color adjustment though) better. But it does not have rotation at any angles. Windows Photo Gallery is best connected to Window Live Spaces, and even Flickr. The later is a very popular one, but the free version only allows 200 photos to be published. No wonder I read somewhere that it is more for "older" people, presumably with more cash to play around in their pockets. But the qualities of photos there are much higher than the average.

GIMP (download)is something for more advance users. It is almost as powerful as Photoshop. I even like some of its features better, those that Photoshop does not have.
Photoshop Express is a great online software, or we should rather call it service. It is almost as powerful as Photoshop's stand alone version. It also offers a free space for sharing photo albums. But, being a SaaS (Sotware as a Service), the response time is still not great, although my connection is more than 60Mbps, according to the measurement sites. It is hard to complain about not having action recording and batch processing, but it is a pity that it does not support layer.
