This is a horrifying news. It is not the firs time to hear about this type of forgery, but it is always disheartening to hear about how creative can people be, in their evil ways. An extreme of past example is to add DDT to make fake Maotai. In Japan, Meat Hope forged minced beaf by mixing cheaper pork. But still they are using meat, as much edible as its target. Yukijirushi also forged beaf with other types of meats, besides its malpractise with milk production (雪印集団食中毒事件).
We can not forget about other types of forgeries, which can be as life threatening as food forgeries. Forged structural strengh for many apartment store buildings (耐震強度偽装) have caused tremendous pain and confusion in Japan. If exposed late enough, many people can die from their ill strenghened homes, when earth quakes come. Fuji Tech has shipped many (12727) elevators and escalators ( 643) with steel structures of weak strength (SPHC instead of SS400; the former has only up to 1/3 of the later's strength).
Forgeries happen in almost every places on earth. The sole purpose is always to save cost and earn more profit. Some sounds funny, some rediculous, and many more horiffying. There is no way people can stop them happening, expect wishing that more and more people can live by their conscience and common sense.
