Mount Fuji Climbing

Climbed Mount Fuji for the first time. Made it to Honnanagome only. But could watch beautiful sunrise and took some nice pictures.

Sunrise viewd on top of Mount. Fuji is the most breathtaking moment, after the long and boring climb. The layers of surrounding mountains, the leisurely wondering clouds, and the transition from warm red to eye blinding sunshine all made the tranquil morning both romantic and healing. Even the boring looking of the upper part of the Fuji turns into a lovely pinkish face, like a new born baby. I totoally forgot the fatigue, the worries and anxiety I have had so far. I simply feel luckly that I have had carried my favorite toy D200 with me and a tripod to record the fasinating moments.

Decending from the mountain turned out to be quite a pain. The road is full of sandy vocano ash, which absorbs the impact when steping down, liking steping on a cush. The difference is that the cush also slides down. It is quite fun at the beginning. But since almost all of the route is the same, my legs and spirits get tired of the monotomous step down, sank in, and slides down routine. I began to look forward to the end of the sandy road when I barely finished one third of the route.
In the end, from 6th station on, there were no stop over station and I could only rest on the sandy road. The tracks from Honnanagome to Gogome Subashiriguchi by GPS is here.
